FRIDAY 4TH MARCH MORNING CHALLENGE

DAILY TIMETABLE – FRIDAY 4TH MARCH 2022

EXTRA INFORMATION

Tomorrow is St Piran’s Day.  St. Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall, the southern most corner of Great Britain.

Legend tells us that St.Piran sailed to Cornwall on a millstone. Originally it had been tied around his neck and he had been cast into the Atlantic by people jealous of his power to heal and work miracles, however he managed to climb on it and sail to shore. Piran built himself a small chapel in Penhale sands and his first disciples were said to be a badger, a fox and a bear.

The flag of St Piran is also the Cornish flag – white cross on a black background. It symbolises the discovery of tin by the saint as the white metal flowed from the black rock.

THURSDAY 3RD MARCH 2022

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good day yesterday – let’s make it even better today!

THURSDAY MORNING CHALLENGE

TIMETABLE – THURSDAY 3RD MARCH 2022

Today we celebrate  the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day, but it is also World Wildlife Day.  The world is full of amazing creatures from the birds of the air to the majestic whales of the sea.  World Wildlife Day is a day to remind us of our responsibilities to our world and the lifeforms we share it with. No matter what you love about wildlife, you can spend the day taking action to help protect it.

This day is all about raising awareness of wild flora and fauna across the world. Whether you love animals, you’re passionate about plants, or you’re concerned about climate change, it’s the day that you can use to educate yourself or others.  On March 3rd, 1973 the United Nations General Assembly took a stand to protect Endangered Species throughout the world.  At this time hundreds of endangered species were being threatened every year, and extinction was at a staggeringly high rate.  If you are passionate about the Earth and everything on it, celebrating is a must.

WEDNESDAY MORNING CHALLENGE

TIMETABLE – WEDNESDAY 2ND MARCH 2022

LITERACY TASKS

SUMMER/WINTER – COSMO B HENDERSON PCM

AUTUMN/SPRING – COMING HOME

Tomorrow is World Book Day. We will carry out some fun activities relating to our class novel Goodnight Mister Tom, and our topic of World War II.  No special dress-up costume is required, but you may want to dress as an evacuee.  If not you’ll still need to wear your Identification Label as you could be evacuated at any time!  Remember, there was no brand name clothing between 1939-45!

Today is National Old Stuff Day, all the bits and bobs that have been gathering dust for ages in your home.  It’s so easy to let things gather dust. If we don’t use them every day, some things can get pushed to the side and stay there.

You could celebrate National Old Stuff Day by taking something old and freshening it up.  You can clean it, fix it, paint it, or give it any sort of makeover that is required.  Or maybe now is a good day to declutter? Stuff you aren’t so into any more could make a great gift for someone else, or you could always pass you old things on to your local charity shop.

If you’re in a crafty mood, you could upcycle! Today would also be a good day to visit your older relatives and learn about your family history.

Remember …  today’s new stuff will one day be old stuff!
