Good morning P6/7, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Today is the start of another great week!
PLOUGH MONDAY
Plough Monday is the first Monday after Epiphany (12th Night after Christmas). Plough Monday is the traditional start of the English agricultural year and was an important and fun day for farm workers. In medieval times, it was common for ploughs to be blessed by the church, and for money to be collected for the Plough Light, a flame that would be kept burning throughout the year to bring good luck to the ploughmen and farm labourers.
You could celebrate the ancient festival of Plough Monday with a bread and cheese platter (ploughman’s lunch). You could also do your own research to find out which other activities relate to Plough Monday.
Don’t forget to complete your SumDog Challenges in class and at home this week!
