WEEK BEGINNING: MONDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2020

Good morning everyone!

I hope you all had a good weekend, it was certainly a cold one.

Learn about Gingerbread Decorating Day on Saturday 12th December.

“Run, run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!”

Gingerbread Decorating Day has been created so that we all have the perfect opportunity to practice the fun festive past-time of decorating a gingerbread house. Of course, you don’t have to create a gingerbread house on this date. You may want to make gingerbread in the shape of Santa or a reindeer and decorate these instead.  After all, does anything give you more of a festive feeling than the smell of freshly baked gingerbread?  A lot of people don’t realise that gingerbread has a pretty interesting history. Did you know that baking gingerbread was deemed a specific profession? Back in the 17th century, you could only make gingerbread if you were a professional gingerbread baker, unless it was Easter or Christmas when the rest of the population could partake in the fun!

See if you can find out more information about the history of gingerbread or making gingerbread.  Write a short paragraph in your Literacy homework jotter,  making sure you use appropriate punctuation.

LITERACY – SPELLING

Unit 4 – oe Phoneme

Remember to select a task from your ‘Spelling Menu’ for each night (Monday – Thursday, 4 spelling tasks in total!).

Write a short paragraph explaining your answer.

READING – BUGCLUB

All groups have access to BUG CLUB online with the school code.  You can try reading the book your group are looking at in class or have a look at some of the others you have been allocated.

NUMERACY – SUMDOG

I’ve entered us into the UK National Holiday Contest on Sumdog.  The link in the picture should take you right to it – let’s do this P7!
