January Overview<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Literacy<\/u><\/p>\n

We will be continuing with our individual targets working towards our ILP.\u00a0 We will also be focusing on Scottish language including exploring Scottish songs and poems.\u00a0 We will be taking part in a book study linked to a popular Scottish books, Hairy Maclary by Lynley Dodd.\u00a0 We will also be looking at report writing linked to our short topic on Scottish weather.<\/td>\n

Numeracy<\/u><\/p>\n

In numeracy we will be continuing to work on our individual targets.\u00a0\u00a0 We will also be focusing on telling the time and subtraction using concrete materials.\u00a0 In mathematics we will be working on size and weight exploring language associated with it including; light, heavy, lightest and heaviest.\u00a0 We will also explore money and length through play in our Hairdressers home corner.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

All my other learning<\/u><\/p>\n

Our topics for January include learning about Scottish weather and a book study on Hairy Maclary.\u00a0 This will allow for opportunities for learning through play and outdoor learning to explore weather.\u00a0 This will also link to our writing through observing and recording the weather.\u00a0 These contexts for learning will also provide opportunities for drama through exploring the stories of Hairy Maclary and art making collages of the various characters.\u00a0 We will also explore dance and music linked to weather including using sound grids exploring instruments and dance inspired by different weathers.<\/p>\n

In Health and wellbeing we will be concentrating on ball skills.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

24th<\/sup> January: UN Education Day<\/td>\nSecondary SLC classes to plan and deliver a lesson to our Primary SLC classes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
25th<\/sup> January: Burns Night<\/td>\nIndividual activities in classes linked to Scottish culture and language throughout January.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
26th<\/sup> January: Burns Night Celebration<\/td>\nSLC Ceilidh in Barony Hall.\u00a0 We will explore some traditional Scottish dances.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
31st<\/sup> January: Open Afternoon<\/td>\nParents invited to school 1:30- 2:30pm.\u00a0 The focus of our afternoon will be literacy concentrating on Scots language.\u00a0 Some classes may perform a poem or song.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
