This week in P6/7

Another busy week in P6/7!

In Numeracy this week we have been working on ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’ symbols using numbers all the way up to the millions! We learned about the crocodile faces and where the crocodile eats the biggest number. We worked in groups to roll dice to create numbers, read them and decide which symbol to put in.

We also played a game where two people picked a number and one person was the crocodile! The crocodile had to decide which symbol went in the middle. It was great fun. We have started rounding numbers to the nearest hundred, nearest thousand, ten thousand and hundred thousand. Mrs Kilday showed us a rap about it and we said we didn’t really like it because we are too old for singing. Mrs Kilday thinks we are only pretending and that we secretly love it…

We also started reading a new novel called ‘Goodnight Mister Tom’ as part of our topic. We also learned about the Blitz that happened in London, and the Air Raids. We are enjoying listening to the audio book and following the story (especially when we get peace and quiet to do that on a Thursday when the other classes are out!) We looked at where the Allies and the Axis countries were on the world map, and AJ was first to find them all. AJ is our new resident Geographer!

We are really excited for Mrs Kilday’s Kahoot quiz of the week this afternoon, where we have to try to remember all of the things we have learned this week!

Stay tuned for more next week!
