Five Senses Rhyme

Can you remember our five senses ?
Here are the words to the five senses song we learned in the ECC a few months ago.
See if you can remember it.

Five Senses Rhyme:

I Use My Five Senses
(Tune: The Farmer in the Dell)

Author Unknown

I use my eyes to see,
I use my eyes to see,
And when I want to see a star,
I use my eyes to see.

I use my nose to smell,
I use my nose to smell,
And when I want to smell a flower,
I use my nose to smell.

I use my tongue to taste,
I use my tongue to taste,
And when I want to taste a peach,
I use my tongue to taste.

I use my ears to hear,
I use my ears to hear,
And when I want to hear a bird,
I use my ears to hear.

I use my hands to touch,
I use my hands to touch,
And when I want to touch a cat,
I use my hands to touch.

Story Peppa Pig Loves our Planet

When you have listened to the story, you could try to save our planet too. Think of things you can do at home like Peppa and George did. Make it your job to remind everyone to turn off taps, switch off lights, recycle and try making your own scrapbook telling what you do at home to save the planet. Also remember to recycle. Take care and have fun.

Painting with Water

Children enjoy painting with water and can spend lots of time outdoors looking for the perfect spot to be creative. This activity also helps to promote their literacy and fine motor skills.  Brushes, rollers and even spray bottles encourage children to explore and experiment, so have a look in your cupboards this morning with your child for interesting tools to be creative with in the sun over the next few days.

My name is…..

Hello everyone, here’s a fun way to make your name.

  1. Make some playdough (recipe below).

  2. Ask a grown up to write your name on a piece of paper.

  3. Roll your dough into a long thin worm shape.

  4. Try and mould your worm over the letters to make your name.

  5. Don’t worry if you find this difficult, just press pieces of dough on top of your name and press to stick them together.

  6. Most importantly, have fun trying.

Recipe below.

If you don’t have food colouring, just make it without. Also, if you cannot make the dough use your fingers or a highlighter pen to trace over the letters instead.

If you want, you could put glue over the letters and decorate with anything you can find. Try some sticks or leaves.

Remember to say each letter sound as you go.

Build a Den

The children have created a variety of dens and shelters, both indoors and outdoors  during play experiences in the ECC. They have used a range of materials including, boxes, sheets, sticks and pegs to create exciting and magical spaces to play and relax in.  Today’s challenge involves building a den for your favourite toy. Can you fit inside too ?

Science – plant a seed

22/05/2020 by Mrs Brown | 0 comments

Hello everyone, today i thought we could plant apple seeds for our science experiment and watch to see which seeds will grow first, the ones in the fridge or the ones in the plant pot. What seeds will win the race.

Remember to water your seeds in the plant pot every few days

  1. You will need an apple, a knife, a piece of kitchen roll and a small pot and some soil

2.Half your apple and remove the seeds, keep your apple and see if you can turn it into ladybugs like the picture.

3.Put some of our seeds onto wet kitchen roll, wrap them up and place into a plastic bag then put into the fridge.

Leave them for a few weeks, then open up to see if any roots have grown. If so you can plant in a pot or straight into  your garden.

4.Fill a small pot with soil and push your remaining seeds into the pot. Water well and put on a sunny spot.

  1. look every few days when you water and see if your seeds have grown a shoot. When leaves start to appear, you can plant outside in your garden.

  2. Challenge, have a look at my ladybug picture and see if you can make your own with the two apple halves.

Have fun, keep smiling and enjoy eating your ladybugs once you have finished.

  1. Look in your garden and all around when you are out for a walk and see if you can spot any ladybugs or other     bugs, insects and creepy crawlies.
