Ice cube trays or muffin tins are a great resource to help promote your child’s maths and numeracy skills.  Early sorting skills can be promoted using a variety of items you have around the house including counters, beads or buttons.  Counting one item into one cube at a time also helps children to understand that numbers represent quantities.
