Literacy Transition Project produced by CLPE\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Centre<\/span><\/b>\u00a0for Literacy in Primary Education)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Support<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0the children in your school community to re-connect with each other and re-engage with school life<\/span>\u00a0, the Literacy Team would like to highlight an excellent free resource that has been created by CLPE Literacy experts devised for a whole school to work together using a single text,\u00a0<\/span>Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth<\/i>\u202fby Oliver Jeffers (HarperCollins)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0to support the transition curriculum as\u00a0pupils\u00a0return to school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>It has been designed to encourage a sense of community across the entire school, to reflect on the last few months,\u00a0<\/span>and also<\/span>\u00a0help your whole school look forward to the future in a positive way.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are teaching notes to support you introduce the unit and a<\/span>t the end of the unit there is\u00a0<\/span>an<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>celebration\u00a0<\/span>activity planned where pupils, staff and parents can share their own notes for living on Planet Earth, supporting everyone to move forward positively<\/span>.\u00a0 It has been differentiated for specific sessions f<\/span>rom<\/span>\u00a0Early- Second Level.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a\u00a0<\/span>literacy-based<\/span>\u00a0unit and aims to support reading and writing for pleasure across the school. The age-appropriate activities will provide opportunities for children to use writing for a range of purposes including personal response as well as shared reading and meaning-making.\u00a0 The notes help you to place the literacy learning at the heart of your<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>recovery curriculum and the planned activities will also<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
