There are many organisations working directly with educators and schools to embed this in practice.<\/p>\n<p>Use the\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wke.lt\/w\/s\/beXl3C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Outdoor Learning\/Learning for Sustainability Wakelet <\/a><\/strong>on the Improvement Hub to find further links to useful resources and organisations.<\/p>\n<p>East Ayrshire Council have created their own <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLw77sXK9bf90qIZONsO9wWdUdwfS7_ZOH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">You Tube &#8211; EAC Climate Change Channel<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>These short films can be used to stimulate discussion in your classroom and promote practical action &#8211; see the Recycling Food Waste video <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Ryt3MSmkdU&amp;list=PLw77sXK9bf90qIZONsO9wWdUdwfS7_ZOH&amp;index=2&amp;ab_channel=EastAyrshireCouncil\">Banana Skin<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>View the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9zMYbTLpzQQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Ayrshire sharing Clean Green Education Award experience\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>presented at a Keep Scotland Beautiful webinar.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FRmJ7PsFn64&amp;ab_channel=EducationScotland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Education Scotland Webinar on LfS<\/a> brings the policy,\u00a0 rationale and the strategic context together in a presentation from Kit Gilbert, Attainment Advisor, Education Scotland (approximately 30 minutes into the recording) and shows what a whole school, whole community approach looks like at EAC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PTJ7-BbTPEk&amp;ab_channel=EducationScotland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Logan PS LfS &#8211; A Context for School Improvement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Falkirk Council have put together the\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/lfsfalkirk\/our-falkirk-learning-for-sustainability-framework\/\">Falkirk LfS Planning Framework . <\/a>This aims to streamline the broad range of elements within the LfS Wordle we are all familiar with.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resources to Help Teachers Explore LfS and the Professional Standards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gtcs.org.uk\/professional-standards\/key-cross-cutting-themes\/learning-for-sustainability\/\">LfS and GTC Professional Standards<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Scotland, the <strong>Professional Standards for Teachers<\/strong> are underpinned by Learning for Sustainability as a key cross-cutting themeand\u00a0 interdependent with the other key cross-cutting themes of Values and Leadership.<\/p>\n<p>GTC Scotland has worked with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/learningforsustainabilityscotland.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learning for Sustainability Scotland<\/a>, Scotland\u2019s United Nations University-recognised Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development, to develop resources to help teachers to explore Learning for Sustainability in the Professional Standards for Teachers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UN Global Goals\/UN Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A key framework for Sustainability is the UN Global Goals. Nearly all the countries in the world have committed themselves to these Global Goals, also known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/student-resources\/\">UN Global Goals &#8211; SDGs: Education Resources\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><em> on this page are for adults and youth alike \u2013 a fun and engaging way to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and what you can do to take action to make them a reality.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>( To see how the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Scottish National Outcomes and Scotland&#8217;s Environment Strategy all mesh together see Fig. 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/public\/learningoutdoorssupportteam\/uploads\/sites\/11891\/2021\/02\/07111139\/environment-strategy-scotland-vision-outcomes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environment Strategy Scotland)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scotdec.org.uk\/\">SCODEC Global Learning Centre<\/a><\/strong><em>\u00a0are running a range of free digital CLPL for the education sector nationally in partnership with Scotland\u2019s Development Education Centres. Our definition of forest is wide and can include marine forests and urban ecosystems. Anyone can take part in LEAF, no matter where they live.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>LEAF is an annual programme following the school year, with registration closing in October. Registration for 2023 is now closed, but you can <a title=\"Registration\" href=\"https:\/\/www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org\/climate-action-schools\/leaf\/registration\/\" data-udi=\"umb:\/\/document\/0577eb52f98a46d99c9437e4147f332d\">sign up<\/a>\u00a0to take part next year (starting August 2024).<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/learningforsustainabilityscotland.org\/connectingclassrooms\/\">Connecting Classrooms<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>There are a host of learning opportunities and support on offer through the Connecting Classrooms programme.
