If \u00a0I wrote a note about a long walk, I would include only information about the most memorable parts of the walk .\u00a0 For example,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>walk crossed Rannoch Moor<\/li>\n<li>walked for 8 hours<\/li>\n<li>the weather was dry but cold<\/li>\n<li>met 4 people walking in the opposite direction<\/li>\n<li>my feet got wet &#8211; need new boots!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Using Similes <\/strong>to make your writing more interesting for your readers<\/p>\n<p>At Second Level you should be beginning to use similes in your writing to\u00a0 <em>create stories, poems and plays with an interesting and appropriate structure, interesting characters and\/or settings which come to life. ENG 2-31a<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A simile is a figure of speech\u00a0 you use when you describe something by comparing it with something else.\u00a0 Similes can make your writing more vivid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples<\/strong> include\u00a0 <i>as brave as a lion, as big as a house, as tiny as a mouse.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>In the video,\u00a0 Carolyn said,\u00a0 &#8216;Mint smells like toothpaste.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>When you see the word &#8216;as&#8217; or the word &#8216;like&#8217; in a description it is likely that the writer is using a simile.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sound Mapping<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sound mapping is an activity you can do anywhere.\u00a0 For 30 Days Wild, we chose a spot to sit in a back garden but you can sound map in the park, playground, the woods or or any other outdoor space.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/learningoutdoorssupportteam\/make-a-sound-map\/\">Make a Sound Map\u00a0<\/a>tells you how.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Just Drawing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We used 30 Days Wild as an opportunity to spend a few minutes drawing each day.
