Lorna Sloan

I work with the John Muir Trust in partnership with East Ayrshires Learning Outdoors Support Team for the past two and a half years. My previous job was with Grounds for Learning now LtL Scotland working in Family Engagement using the outdoors.  I also delivered training in Outdoor Play and Learning.

The John Muir Award scheme is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places, helping people develop a connection with nature, enjoy and care for wild places. Presently over 60% of schools in East Ayrshire use the Award in many different ways and for a variety of reasons – raise attainment, give structure to outdoor learning, STEM, staff development, raise confidence and self-esteem to name a few. I support staff to provide the Award for their pupils using school grounds or the local community.

In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors and can often be found on two wheels of the not motorised kind puffing up hills for the thrill of the downhill – Only a cyclist knows why dogs stick their heads out car windows!

For more information on the John Muir Award and how I can support you e mail eastayrshire@johnmuiraward.org or phone – 01563 544304.

Remember we also have great support and lots of ideas on our John Muir Award page

Please note I am not on the authority intranet but do work out of the LOST offices at St Joseph’s Academy.
