East Ayrshire Council Education Services has developed Town Trail Education Packs for schools in the towns of Kilmarnock and Galston. Each resource contains a map with suggested sites of historic interest; along with active, interdisciplinary learning activities enabling teachers and pupils to make connections between classroom learning and the real world. Local historical societies have supported the development of these resources.

Schools participating in Town Trail learning activities has facilitated many developments and partnerships within their local community and beyond.
