18 pupils from S1 went to see comic book/graphic novel duo metaphrog this week. This trip was part of the annual Spring Read book festival organised by school librarians in East Ayrshire. 20 pupils from S2 will be going to see Scottish author Barry Hutchison next week to celebrate World Book Day. Barry is the author of the Invisible Fiends series and the Afterworlds series. Visit his website to find out more.
Blind Date with a Book This Valentine’s Challenge is running until the end of February. All you have to do is borrow a book from the special display in the library and complete a very short review. You have to choose the book based on its description – you won’t be able to see what the book is until you leave the library! One person who hands in their review will be chosen at random to win the prize!
Harry Potter competition Are you a Harry Potter fan? Do you have a good imagination? Are you pretty good at drawing? If you answered yes to ANY of these you should enter the Harry Potter Book Night competition being run by Bloomsbury publishers. Collect an entry form from the library. Closing date 6th February.
Storytelling Our book clubs are going to the Dick Institute next week for a storytelling workshop.
