{"id":2568,"date":"2018-01-18T13:10:48","date_gmt":"2018-01-18T13:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/kilmarnockacademy\/?p=2568"},"modified":"2018-01-18T13:15:01","modified_gmt":"2018-01-18T13:15:01","slug":"school-closure-east-ayrshire-council-educational-establishments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/kilmarnockacademy\/2018\/01\/18\/school-closure-east-ayrshire-council-educational-establishments\/","title":{"rendered":"School Closure &#8211; East Ayrshire Council Educational Establishments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">East Ayrshire Council decided to close all East Ayrshire schools today.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Please see quote from the East Ayrshire Council website:<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u201c<\/span><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">ALL schools and\u00a0educational establishments in East Ayrshire will be closed on Thursday 18<sup>th<\/sup> January<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #5a5a5a;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">This extends to primaries, secondaries, early childhood centres and special needs establishments, and to organisations who use these facilities out of hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #5a5a5a;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">We have taken this decision following advice from partners and colleagues in education, roads and transportation and in response to an amber weather warning for more snow and ice coming our way this evening and into tomorrow morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #5a5a5a;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">In the interests of ensuring the safety of pupils, parents, staff and carers, we consider this to be the safest option for all concerned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #5a5a5a;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">The situation will be closely monitored tomorrow (Thursday) before any decisions are taken for Friday.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #5a5a5a;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">We anticipate that all educational establishments will re-open on Friday 19 January 2018.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">Multi-agency efforts are being made today to ensure safe access to, and around, educational sites in readiness for potential opening.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #5a5a5a;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">In the light of current weather forecasts that may bring more snow, each individual establishment will undertake a risk assessment very early on Friday morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif\">Any schools which require to remain\u00a0closed\u00a0will be featured here on the council\u2019s website, social media and on local radio. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>East Ayrshire Council decided to close all East Ayrshire schools today.\u00a0 Please see quote from the East Ayrshire Council website:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cALL schools and\u00a0educational establishments in East Ayrshire will be closed on Thursday 18th January.
