Term 3 2023/2024

Literacy

Reading – This term we will be looking at non-fiction texts.

We will be reading ‘Step Away From The Kitten!’ to revisit the different parts of a non-fiction text and as a way of modelling how to use the 6 comprehension strategies when looking at non-fiction texts.

Then, as our class novel we will look at ‘Dr Maggie’s Grand Tour of the Solar System’ which links with our term 3 topic of Space.

Pupils will also be given regular ERIC (Everyone Reading In Class) time as part of our weekly timetable.

Writing –   This term we will be looking at writing our own poetry of different types such as acrostic, haikus, limericks etc. Through our grammar we will explore different poetic devices which pupils will then be able to use within their writing.
