Welcome to Primary 3 and Miss Baldie

We are very much looking forward to working hard this year in Primary 3 and being positive role models to the younger pupils.

We have chosen to learn about Sea Creatures as a mini topic in Term 1. This will be the focus of lots of our learning.

This term in Literacy, we will be linking our reading and writing activities to our mini topic of Sea Creatures. We will be writing lots of detailed descriptions about Sea Creatures, learning to add interesting details and vocabulary.

We will be following the EALP to learn weekly phonemes and following this up by lots of active spelling games and activities.

In term 1 , our focus in numeracy will be place value. We will be using lots of practical materials to develop our understanding.  We will be learning to navigate our way round a 100 square learning numbers before/after, ten more/less and number patterns. We will also be  using hundreds, tens and ones with numbers up to 1000 showing the importance of zero as a place holder. We will develop our knowledge of number order, rounding and partitioning.

 

In Health and Wellbeing we will be creating our class charter in line with the UNCRC articles. From this we will be developing our understanding of our 3 school values, SAFE, KIND AND RESPECTED. Later in the term we will be learning about different types of medicines and medicine safety. We will be celebrating our success with regular stickers, points and certificates.
