Term 2 (October-December)

This term we are delighted to welcome Miss Gillespie to our class. She is a teaching student from UWS, with us for 5 weeks.


This term we are being supported by the Scottish Attainment Challenge (SAC) Team  Mrs Wood is working with us to explore various Literacy activities.

Reading – We are using “The Worst Witch” to develop the use of reading strategies to help us read with more fluency and understanding.

Writing – We are learning to write Explanation texts, and write reports based on our Scotland topic.  We are also continuing our work using Active Literacy for spelling.

Listening & Talking – We will continue to develop our talking and listening skills through our topic work.

Numeracy & Maths

This term we will cover the following topics;

  • Consolidation of all times tables,
  • Multiplication & Division,
  • Bar Modelling Problem Solving,
  • 2D Shape & 3D Objects,
  • Area.

Mrs McAuley from the SAC Team is continuing to support us this term.

Health & Well Being

We will focus on peer pressure, positive relationships and substance misuse (in particular legal/illegal drugs).

We are now able to have PE indoors, but we will continue to make use of the outdoor facilities when possible. We will continue to work on our fitness, and ball skills.

Social Studies

Our topic this term is Scotland. We will be looking at the physical make up of our beautiful country. We will be making comparisons with Spain, and learning some basic Spanish.

We also look forward to raising money for Children in Need, experimenting with seasonal art, and getting ready for Christmas.🎄
