{"id":9991,"date":"2022-03-14T15:23:33","date_gmt":"2022-03-14T15:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/hurlfordpsecc\/?p=9991"},"modified":"2022-03-14T15:23:33","modified_gmt":"2022-03-14T15:23:33","slug":"p7j-march-7th-11th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/hurlfordpsecc\/2022\/03\/14\/p7j-march-7th-11th\/","title":{"rendered":"P7J &#8211; March 7th -11th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week in P7J we had lots of different learning experiences.<\/p>\n<p>We completed our work on Vivaldi&#8217;s &#8216;Winter&#8217; music by composing some tunes of our own.\u00a0 Each group had a selection of instruments and were tasked with creating an 8 beat tune, inspired by winter.\u00a0 This was good fun and everyone worked well as part of a team to count beats and come in at the correct time.<\/p>\n<p>Our numeracy focus was on adding and subtracting fractions.\u00a0 We had to use our prior learning, from last week, about mixed and improper fractions to help with these calculations.<\/p>\n<p>Continuing with our study of poetry, we looked at limericks.\u00a0 These are funny, five line poems which rhyme. Here is Codey&#8217;s for you to enjoy!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">There once was an unusual parrot,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Who for some reason loved to eat carrots,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">The bigger the better,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">He said in his letter,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Oh, what an unusual parrot!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of our topic on China, Miss Little set the challenge of researching the giant panda.\u00a0 Notes were collected and then used to write non-chronological reports.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9990 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/hurlfordpsecc\/files\/2022\/03\/ED45DDB5-F347-4EA5-88DC-E37B756F68A2-rotated.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"509\" height=\"679\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>John Muir Award and Outdoor Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We started a four week rotation for outdoor learning on Thursday.\u00a0 We were so glad it wasn&#8217;t raining!<\/p>\n<p>Group one was helping P3\/2 pupils to make bird feeders out of plastic milk cartons. Group 2 was weeding the raised bed and sowing seeds: we planted lettuce, sweetcorn and courgette seeds this week.\u00a0 Group 3 was hunting for animal tracks hidden around the playground and trying to identify them.\u00a0 Group four was given a S.T.E.M challenge to build a bird&#8217;s nest; this was not as easy as everyone first thought!
