{"id":9072,"date":"2021-09-23T12:30:42","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T12:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/hurlfordpsecc\/?p=9072"},"modified":"2021-09-23T12:30:42","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T12:30:42","slug":"p7j-moneysense-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/hurlfordpsecc\/2021\/09\/23\/p7j-moneysense-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"P7J Moneysense Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9074 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/hurlfordpsecc\/files\/2021\/09\/money-sense-comp.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"389\" height=\"153\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Primary 7J have been challenged to design a Top Trumps card to promote and celebrate actions that we can take to become more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pupils have been given a consent form to allow for entry to the competition.\u00a0 Please return the completed forms by Tuesday 28th September.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In preparation for completing their game-card designs, each pupil has been asked to carry out some research at home to find an interesting fact relating to their chosen environmentally friendly action and to plan a drawing to go with it.<\/p>\n<p>The themes for our age group are: shopping, energy and travel\/transport.\u00a0 Through discussion, we made a list of possible actions to feature on our cards, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>turn radiators down and close doors to keep heat in;<\/li>\n<li>open curtains and blinds, switch lights off;<\/li>\n<li>turn electrical items off at the plug when not in use;<\/li>\n<li>re-use shopping bags;<\/li>\n<li>pick items that have recyclable packaging;<\/li>\n<li>upcycle unwanted or old furniture;<\/li>\n<li>make gifts instead of buying them;<\/li>\n<li>donate unwanted items to charity;<\/li>\n<li>shop in second-hand shops;<\/li>\n<li>drive electric cars;<\/li>\n<li>holiday locally: staycation instead of vacation;<\/li>\n<li>walk or cycle to school;<\/li>\n<li>take the train or bus when going on longer journeys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Time will be given in class on Tuesday to complete the final entry designs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 7J have been challenged to design a Top Trumps card to promote and celebrate actions that we can take to become more environmentally friendly.
