Primary 6 have had a busy and productive week. Here\u2019s a roundup of what we have been learning.<\/p>\n

In Literacy<\/strong>, the spelling focus was the phoneme ai<\/em> in words with ei<\/em> as in neighbour. For reading this week we looked at examples of persuasive texts to identify the features of this genre of writing. We took this learning into our writing and used the OREO method to plan our own persuasive piece of writing. For talking and listening, we continued to plan and practise our short solo talks.\u00a0 Next week we will chose our own topic to prepare and deliver a short solo talk to the class.<\/p>\n

The focus in numeracy<\/strong> was number patterns and sequences. We all tried hard and got the hang of it very quickly. Our next step is to look at square and triangular numbers then use our knowledge and understanding to solve more complex problems.<\/p>\n

We finished our RME<\/strong> topic of Ramadan and made lanterns out of card and paper called Fanoos<\/em> which Muslims light during this special time of year. They look great hanging up in our classroom.<\/p>\n

Yesterday was the start of the P6 and P7 Sports Championship finals. We have completed two events so far and there are three to go. Good luck to the finalists with the rest of the competition. It was P6\u2019s last football training session on Thursday. We all agreed that our passing, dribbling and tackling skills have all improved. We enjoyed working as a team and everyone gave it their all.<\/p>\n

For our Space topic this week we found out what happens during a solar and a lunar eclipse. We enjoyed demonstrating how these happen using a light source, a tennis ball and a basketball!<\/p>\n
