This year we went down to Cumnock Juniors to take part in Sports Day. Our PE buddies from Barshare Primary helped get us there safely and made sure the races ran smoothly. They helped build a lovely atmosphere.
Janet organised races for everyone and they have been practising in PE.
We had a great turn out from family and friends to cheer us on!!
Our Sports Day champions will get their shields at Prizegiving.
Thanks to the kind donation of juice and snacks from Mauchline Keystore.
We celebrated all our children and young people’s achievements this year in style.
Certificates were awarded to each individual for the area of the curriculum they had made most progress in. Participation was recognised at Pulse Recording Studio, horse riding, Caledonia Awards and Saltire Awards.
Shields were presented to our PE champion, best outdoor learner, most improved primary and secondary pupils.
Our Sports’ Day girls and boys took home a shield as well.
Next year we look forward to working with our 2 head girls and vice-head girl.
Thanks to all family and friends who made time to join us.
We had a great morning clearing out the garden with lots of families here to help. Janet gave each class an area to clear and then the hard work began! Weeding, digging and a general tidy up meant we built up quite an appetite. Thanks to those who made us our tasty snack!
Primary C did a great job organising our Comic Relief afternoon.
We wore our pjs and had a raffle then watched a film chosen by our young people.
It was a super afternoon and we raised £115 for a great charity.
Well done everyone!
Three members of Education Scotland visited our school this week and were pleased with what they saw. Some comments were that our values were lived, our pupil self esteem guidelines were super and our staff team was outstanding!
No grades as it was a training exercise for them but a very positive experience all round.
On Friday we had a celebration of all things Scottish.
Janet worked with all classes in PE to prepare dances with help from our Barshare Primary buddies.
We had a lovely snack and then enjoyed songs and poems together.
Before a traditional lunch of haggis, neeps and tatties Jim , who helps us with Scouts, did the address to the haggis.
In the afternoon Jack and David from Live Music came to entertain us.
What a fantastic way to end the week!
The Hillside team put on their Christmas show today and this year it was just fantastic! Friends of the school came back to help, pupils from Barshare joined in and the children and young people of Hillside showed off their super dance moves after weeks of practice.
We had the Seniors line dancing, the Secondary class and Primary C were ballet dancing angels and disco stars, Primary A & B were shepherds, sheep and funky camels. You all did the school proud.
Thanks to friends and family for making time to come and watch and join in the celebrations.
