All teaching and learning is planned through Curriculum for Excellence.

It is adapted as appropriate to the developmental level each child is working at to ensure appropriate pace and challenge and to enable progress in learning.

Primary 1 to S3 pupils work on all curriculum areas in their broad, general education. We have discrete teaching times for literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing which are reinforced through theme work and our Core Curriculum.

S1-3 pupils also work through ASDAN Transition Challenge.

As pupils progress through their Senior Phase (S4-6) there are opportunities to specialise and gain qualifications. We offer ASDAN and SQA National 1 & 2 Qualifications and the opportunity to take part in award schemes such as Caledonia, Dynamic Youth and Saltire Awards.

Teachers regularly update their teaching themes and styles to meet the learners’ needs and interests.

Each pupil has an Individual Learning Plan.  The plan sets out long and short term personalised targets and is reviewed each term. Parents’ nights and annual reviews give teachers the opportunity to share planning and progress with families/carers.
