Managing Staff Passwords

It is now possible for all staff in schools to manage passwords for other staff (as well as pupils). This makes it easier and quicker for schools to deal with the basics of Glow account management.

To change another member of staff’s password (at their request of course) is easy –

  • On the Glow Light screen go to the blue person icon called Profile
  • This takes you to the Manage People search screen, where you can search the national directory
  • To find a member of staff in your school go to Advanced Search
  • Type their surname in the Last Name field
  • Type the school name in the Base Establishment Name field then click on the arrow to search
  • When the results appear click on the person’s name
  • Click on edit
  • You will then get the option to reset the password
  • Save
  • The staff member will then be able to log on
  • You might want to encourage staff to set themselves a challenge questions, which anyone can do by editing their own profile

Beginners’ Tip – Resetting pupils’ passwords

School staff can change pupils’ passwords very easily.

  • In Staff Home go to Change Settings
  • Find the pupil in the National Directory search (best to use Advanced Search)
  • Click on Edit
  • You can enter a new password for the pupil in the box provided
  • Save

Clearly, pupils forgetting passwords can be an issue so it is best to make them as simple and easy to remember as possible.
