New Auchinleck Nursery School blog

Auchinleck Nursery School is the latest East Ayrshire establishment to launch its own school blog. The school will use the blog to keep parents up to date with its plans, priorities, events and activities.

New blog for Cairns Nursery

Cairns Nursery in Kilmarnock has just launched its new blog - Cairns Nursery. The blog will be used primarily for communicating with parents and carers. The nursery handbook, newsletters, and a weekly diary for pupils will be posted on the site.

Galston Primary School blog

Another fantastic school blog will be launched in East Ayrshire next week - Galston Primary School blog will be unveiled to parents and pupils as part of Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 7th February. The blog is an excellent way to keep in touch with the latest news, achievements and activities at the school.

EA Glow Showcase – Primaries

In these Showcase posts we’d like to highlight the good practice in Glow in East Ayrshire schools. The Showcase examples are from the top Glow groups in EA from the first half of the session (Aug – Dec).

Some primary schools have developed Glow use enormously in the past year. New Farm Primary, Galston Primary, Crosshouse Primary and Gargieston Primary have joined the established Onthank and Mauchline Primaries in the top 20.  

  • New Farm now have active Glow groups for almost every class in the school
  • Miss Buchanan at Galston has developed some excellent whole school sites for ICT and French
  • Miss Finnie at Crosshouse has been using a Glow group and blog for pupils’ Big Writing
  • At Gargieston, the P5 Glow group’s discussion forum receives hundreds of posts from pupils
  • Mauchline’s P4 site contains a page for pupils to write about what makes them Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens.

EA Glow Showcase – Secondaries

In these Showcase posts we’d like to highlight the good practice in Glow in East Ayrshire schools. The Showcase examples are from the top Glow groups in EA from the first half of the session (Aug – Dec).

Glow use in secondaries has continued to rise steadily in EA. As well as at Grange Academy,  there are some excellent examples at other schools -

  • James Hamilton Academy has all Social Subjects classes on Glow. Pupils are using their sites effectively for homework, study support, and also collaboration and sharing of good classroom practice. Modern Languages and Home Economics are two other departments using Glow in the school.
  • At Auchinleck Academy Miss Shaw’s S5 English class have been making excellent use of their site for essay topics, revision and homework.
  • The Modern Languages department at Stewarton Academy have sites for pupils to learn about and communicate in French and Spanish.
  • Cumock Academy’s Technical Department has been developing its Glow use, particularly for pupils studying Desktop Publishing.

EA Glow Showcase – Grange Academy

In these Showcase posts we’d like to highlight the good practice in Glow in East Ayrshire schools. The Showcase examples are from the top Glow groups in EA from the first half of the session (Aug – Dec).

Grange Academy featured 5 Glow groups in the top 20, across English, Social Subjects and PE departments. These Glow groups have become embedded in the pupils’ learning and are used to support homework and revision. The sites contain numerous resources (documents, links, videos) and make excellent use of discussion forums and wikis. Departments have been supported by the Librarian, Miss Reid, in the development of Glow.

EA Glow Showcase – Onthank Primary School

In these Showcase posts we’d like to highlight the good practice in Glow in East Ayrshire schools. The Showcase examples are from the top Glow groups in EA from the first half of the session (Aug – Dec).

Onthank Primary School featured 5 Glow groups in the top 20. These sites have provided teachers and pupils with a place to display class achievements and activities, discussion forums and resources, and other web tools such as Vokis. Pupils have been logging onto Glow from home giving parents a glimpse into the classroom. Kirkstyle Primary School blog

Another great school blog has been launched in East Ayrshire. Kirkstyle Primary School’s site can be found here -

The blog has lots of information for pupils, parents and the school community, and will be developed further in 2012.

Loanhead Primary School blog

Another great new primary school blog from East Ayrshire has gone public – Loanhead Primary School have launched their site today, with plans to develop the site further in 2012 with contributions from teachers and pupils.
