We worked with Miss Bennett on a range of activities measuring length.  We were using non-standard units and also standard units ( cm and m).

On Monday we were practising using connectives in our writing through a range of active activities.  Hopefully we see lots of these in our Rainforest writing this week.

Today we were learning how to add adverbs into our writing through a range of active activities.  An adverb is a word that describes a verb.  We found today that most of them end in ‘ly’.   Have a look at our hard work.

A big thank you to Eoin’s dad who came in this afternoon to talk to us about his job as a civil engineer.  After this week I think there are a few boys and girls who might like to do this job when they grow up.

This afternoon to round off a fun week we used our own imagination and construction materials to come up with our own designs.

Today we carried out a ‘Layered Liquids’ experiment.  We added oil, coloured water and syrup to a cup.  Instead of mixing, the liquids layered on top of each other.

Today we worked with P1/2 to share our STEM week learning.  First their class visited ours and we worked with them on the ‘Bubbling Wizard’s Brew’ experiment.  We also told them about our dissolving mini topic.

Next we went through to their class and worked with them on electricity and floating and sinking activities.  We made electrical circuits and tried to make boats that float from plasticine.

It was so much fun sharing what we have learned, thank you P1/2!

Today for our STEM trip we visited the Riverside Museum in Glasgow.  We had great fun exploring the museum looking at how transport has changed over the years.  We even had time to run around outside with our friends and have a look at the tall ship in the River Clyde.

As part of STEM week we have been doing a mini topic on Dissolving for science.  Today we learned the difference between dissolving and melting and the difference between a soluble and insoluble material.

We investigated which materials dissolved in cold water.

Next we carried out a fun experiment called Bubbling Wizard’s Brew.  We added vinegar, food colouring, a sprinkle of glitter, washing-up liquid and baking powder to a cup.  The baking power and vinegar reacted to make bubbles of gas which caused our mixture to fizz and erupt.
