HT Challenge 11th-15th May – Fundraiser

“And I would walk 500 miles…”

Hello everyone,

The challenge this week is for all staff and pupils to contribute towards a shared goal of walking 500 miles! If every pupil managed to walk at least 3 and a half miles over the course of the week, then we will meet our target.

  • Make a plan with a parent to set your route and either walk at least 3 and a half miles in one day or over the course of the week.
  • Please take either a short video of yourself walking some of the distance (10 second video) or some photos and email them to Mrs Davidson.
  • Wear yellow and black or face paints – bumble bee theme!
  • Reply to the daily text message on your parent’s phone to say how many miles you managed that day only, so we can update everyone.
  • By Friday, we hope that we have collectively managed to walk at least 500 miles!
  • We will turn your videos and photos into a whole school video with the music ‘500 miles’ by The Proclaimers.
  • Donate an amount of your choice via Parent Pay and we will send all money raised to Hallhouse Care Home to support them during this difficult time.

Miss Jaffrey Update

Hi everyone, I hope you are all staying safe and learning new skills at home.
I have been very busy during the lockdown period from decorating my new house to trying out some new baking recipes.
During the first week of lockdown I was kept very busy learning new decorating skills and trying new patterns for my bedroom wall. Here is a before and after picture of my decorating:
When I’m not decorating inside the house I am learning new skills out in the garden. Just last week I fully restored my little bench in my garden. Here is the finished picture:
Moving into a house can be challenging and sometimes you need a little sweet treat to reward yourself. I decided I would try to make an apple pie from scratch and it tasted delicious. I wish I could of shared it with friends and family.

Mrs Gallacher’s Update

Hi everyone, Hope you and your families are all doing well. I feel as if I haven’t seen you all in ages! Missing all your wee faces and chats around the school.

I’ve been keeping busy and luckily our weather has been great too. I’m doing alot of gardening outdoors and had a few BBQ’s. My daughter Murron had a lock down 14th birthday but we had a fantastic day with lots of fun.
Most days when Mr Gallacher comes home from work we all go our daily walk/exercise. Luckily I live a few minutes from the beach so enjoy getting the nice fresh sea air.
Let me introduce my 2 pet cats. Carla (black) and Minnie (white). As you can see they like to sleep alot and I usually find them in the conservatory sunning themselves ☀️🐱
At the moment I am teaching them to sit and give me a high 5 for a wee treat. Hopefully will get a photograph soon to show you all.
Take care everyone, chat to you all again soon.
Mrs G 😁

HT Challenge – Competition!

Hi everyone, I hope you are managing to stay safe and everyone is well.

I have a new HT Challenge, however, this one needs to be emailed to me (earobyn.davidson@glow.sch.uk) by Friday 1st May, no later than 12pm – so you will need to work fast! This one is for those of you who have a creative mind and like to draw. The prize involves choosing play equipment for our playground, this is only one of the options:

10k Playground Design Competition

1. Design your playground
Draw your perfect playground with all your favourite features
Make sure to colour it in!

2. Draw your equipment
Design a piece of play equipment for your playground
Make sure to label it!

3. Questionnaire
Fill in the playground design questionnaire – Playground questionnaire
Make sure you tell us everything about your playground!

4. Tell us why
Write us a letter, telling us why you would like this playground
Either write it and take a picture, or type it.

Now you need to email Mrs Davidson with photos of part one and two, and attach the questionnaire and letter and we will do the rest.

Good luck!

HT Update 22/4/20

Welcome back everyone! I hope you managed to make the most of the wonderful weather we had over the Easter break. Mrs Campbell, Mrs Stark, Mrs Kelly and I are working our way through calling everyone for a quick check-in over the next week. We look forward to speaking to you!

HT Challenge this week has been sent via the school app and also on Twitter. The focus is Earth Day 2020 and your challenge is to create something (poster/powerpoint/movie/etc) to encourage others to take action against climate change. I look forward to seeing what you produce – please let me know if you would like it posted on Twitter.

The Easter break was very strange this year and quiet, however, I feel lucky that my family are safe, healthy and have been able to spend time in our garden. The main priority during these uncertain times is everyone’s wellbeing (physical and mental). So try to find a routine that works for your family and remember that all learning tasks are only suggestions to support learning at home.

My twins are now almost 15 months old and great at walking, so we have been out short walks letting them out of the buggy.

We have also enjoyed the warm, sunny weather in the garden.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Davidson

Hello #TeamFenwick! I hope everyone is well and helping their families at home. All of your teachers have updated the class blogs with a bit about what they have been up to whilst they have been working from home. So I thought I’d share a little of what I have been doing whilst working at home too…

As you know, I have 3 very young children of my own at home to take care of. You can imagine, they keep me VERY busy and need everything done for them.

Each day we try to get out a little walk for some exercise and fresh air and we also try to spend some time in our garden when it is dry.

We also made a rainbow for our window to share our appreciation to everyone working hard during this time and to remind everyone to stay home when they can. Remember to share your rainbow pictures with me.

It was my birthday yesterday and some of my family came to my door (staying 2m back!) and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, which was very funny and brightened up my day a little.

I hope you have managed to try some of the activities your teachers have set for you but are also finding time to relax and support your families.

Take care and stay safe!

Mrs Davidson

Hi everyone! As you are aware, the learning grids have now been posted on each class blog, detailing some activities you may wish to complete at home.

We understand that things might feel a little strange at the moment – they are for us too – but the best thing to do is find a daily routine that works for you as a family. There is no expectation from the school that you have to complete all of these tasks but we would encourage you to have a go of some.

If you do complete some tasks, then try to add photos/videos/documents to your own blogs to share with your teacher, who will have a look on a Friday.

Please also remember to send me some videos or pictures if you would like them shared on our school Twitter page. We are still focusing on the rainbow pictures this week, however, after the holiday I will create a new HT Challenge for you to have a go.

Have a good week and try to get some fresh air each day! I really look forward to getting back to school and speaking to everyone.

Keep safe,

Mrs Davidson

Hello everyone! I hope you are well and continuing to support your families to safe at home.

Pupils

The teachers are working hard to plan some tasks that you can complete at home next week. A learning grid will be posted on Monday, which will include a number of the tasks already suggested in your learning packs. Giglets and Education City tasks already assigned should last a few weeks. P3-7 pupils should upload or save some of their completed tasks on their blog by Friday at 10am and your teacher will aim to have a look and comment on some of these tasks. REMEMBER, these tasks are a suggestion and up to you and your parents to agree.

If you would like any of your work or videos of you completing a task published on our Twitter page, then seek your parent’s permission and ask them to send it either to my Glow email or tag me in your own Twitter feed – I will select a few to post each week.

This week, I am setting my own HT’s challenge and challenge you to create a poster, either using paper or on your laptop, reminding everyone of the current guidance and placing it in your windows – you can then post a photo of this on your blog or send it to me!

Parents
