P7 – Leading House Treats

Dunlop House Treat

Dunlop House won the House Treat last month and the House, Vice and Sports Captains organised a sports themed treat afternoon to celebrate their success.
They organised Just Dance and Parachute games in the hall. In the playground they set out resources and led a variety of games and activities for everyone to enjoy.
The feedback from Dunlop House was very positive and they loved sharing their success together.
Well done Primary 7 leaders.

P7 – Final Evening in Dalguise

This afternoon was the first bit of rain we have seen  but it did not dampen our enthusiasm.

Jacob’s Ladder was our first afternoon activity:

Hopefully you can make out everyone in these photos. What I can tell you is that most of us climbed to the very top of Jacob’s Ladder today and we were delighted with ourselves 🙂

We waved goodbye to Mr Houston  and headed off for survival skills training. We built dens and learned how to use the flint and steel to start a fire. We were all a bit cold and tired and in need of some dinner but we still all took part in this activity. We were also very excited about our disco so we wanted to get back to our dorms to get ready.

We had our final evening meal together – which was a good one – lasagna or chicken nuggets and chips , garlic bread and a waffle for pudding!

Hot showers and fresh clothes on and we were ready to party! This was also our leader, Nicole’s, last night with us . We have loved her songs, games and fun chat and we will miss her in the morning!

You can see from our photos and videos that our disco was a great night. We were also delighted to  receive our PGL Certificates.

Our suitcases are packed and we are ready for our 7am start in the morning.

P7 Dalguise Day 4 Update

Sorry this blog is so late today! I know all our parents will have been checking all day! We really have not had 2 minutes to stop since breakfast this morning!

We had a long lie today and didn’t have breakfast u til 8.30! Then straight off to abseiling and archery.
We were lucky with the weather this morning and really enjoyed both morning activities.

We were so excited to see Mr Houston at lunchtime and we enjoyed having lunch with him and telling him all about our week.

Afternoon  photos to follow later this evening after dinner and our final evening disco.

P7 Day 3 Dalguise Evening Update

Our afternoon activities were : Zip Line  and Problem solving Activities.

Group 1 headed off up the hill to get all their kit on for Zip Line. Everyone helped each other to get ready and then headed off to zip down the line. What a beautiful day and the views were amazing at the top.

Hopefully you can spot your child’s jacket in the distance! You will certainly hear Mrs Ross’s screams!

Group 2 were busy solving lots of problems around the estate, our favourite puzzle was moving tyres from one side of the logs to the others but keeping the numbers in order. We all solved this puzzle but it took lots of teamwork!

We then swapped activities before heading back for a quick change and dinner at 6.30.pm. Dinner tonight was cottage pie, chicken tikka masala or veg korma. Pudding was wobbly jelly.

We then headed straight out for our evening activity which was great fun. We all took our torches for a “Passport Around the World” which was a scavenger hunt in the dark looking for flags and answering questions. We had great fun “flying in to the runway” to give our answers to Nicole (our group leader).

Back to our dorms at 8.30pm for showers and an evening game of monopoly before bed!

Everyone is giving everything a go and Mrs G and Mrs Ross are amazed at how brave they are. Loads  of giggles and nonsense every day and smiles on their faces.

P7 Dalguise Day3 – lunchtime update

We all had a great night sleep, and got organised and up for a breakfast of bacon and hash browns , with lots of fruit and cereal at 7.30am. 9am and we were off to our first activity of the day – The Vertical  Challenge! We are pros at getting our harnesses on and we spend most of our days in the air! Everyone gave this a go and some of us even made it to the top!

Next we were off on a sensory trail – this was great fun and Mrs G  and Mrs Ross loved tricking everyone along the way!

Lunch  was spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread or veg ratatouille which was quickly eaten and a 5 minute change of shoes before heading off to our afternoon activities.

We are busy all day long ( which is why this post is later today).

MrsG and Mrs Ross are still smiling !

2pm and we headed off to problem solving and the zip wire. Photos to follow …

P7 Day 2 Dalguise

Evening Update

We have had another full on exciting day.

The weather has been  lovely and we have enjoyed the views from our huge, high up, giant swing!

Then we climbed another tree to jump off and fly our way back down.

Dinner was macaroni,  katsu curry and chocolate brownie for pudding.

Our final evening activity was Real Life Cluedo with the added bonus of Mrs Ross playing one of the lead roles in the “who dunnit” mystery!

A wee late night karaoke and cup game back at our dorms  finished off our day perfectly.

Everyone is asleep and getting plenty of rest before Day 3!

P7 Good morning from Dalguise!

After a good sleep we were all up and at breakfast for 7.30am! Sausages, hash browns, beans and cereal was on offer and everyone made sure they filled up before we head off to our first sessions of canoeing and challenge course.

Nicole (our leader) got us all playing some warm up games. Then we headed back to our dorms to put on all our clothes for our activities. Mrs Ross and Mrs G did a quick room check! We are organised and raring to go…

Update to follow after dinner 🙂

P7 – Learning Out doors

Friday was filled with sunshine and a day for learning outdoors!

We went to the garden to read and really enjoyed using our new outdoor library. Everyone took time to relax and read for pleasure for 20 minutes.  Mrs Ross showed us the birds that had been singing in the garden while we were reading.

We then put our books down and played hide and seek together which we all agreed was a favourite part of our day – even the huge spider in the storage boxes that everyone hid in didn’t stop our enthusiasm.

Next we decided to take our P.E outside and try out the cricket skills that we have been developing with Miss Wales.  After practising our batting and bowling we had a fun mini game. We definitely have some budding cricketers in P7! We used Significant Aspects of Learning (SALs) to identify skills that we could see while we were watching games from the side-lines.

We are hoping this sunshine lasts when we visit Dalguise next week!

P7 Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day

Today we walked to Fenwick Cemetery to visit the war graves of two of the soldiers that are named on our War Memorial.  We took some flowers and a poppy cross to lay on their graves and remember them.

We were pleased to see that the head stones had been cleaned and taken care of but we gave them a little brush and wash to make sure they looked well cared for.

In school we learned about the meaning of the poppy and created a display as a mark of respect.
