P7 World Book Day

World Book Day

What a great day to celebrate our love of reading for pleasure.

We designed book tokens, took part in a Footy and Booky online national quiz and took part in a book swap.
We designed front covers  to win the wrapped book (we could only read a short blurb from the book and we couldn’t see what the book was) and we read in the hall which had been turned into a reading den.
We then had an online Teams call with Patna Primary to take part in a book cafe where we recommended books to each other and shared what we had been doing as a school and within our community to encourage more reading for pleasure.

P7 Wellbeing Bees

P7  Wellbeing Bees

This term we have been thinking of ways to support wellbeing in our busy playgrounds.

We went to the garden and found lots of equipment that we could use. We worked together to think of activities that we could plan for breaks in the different playgrounds.

We then shared the resources with different classes and taught them how to play together with the equipment.

We created expectations to share with the classes to make sure the equipment is played with respectfully.

P7 Burns Supper and Scottish Showcase

P7 Led the whole school Scottish Showcase family friends and invited guests. We are proud of  Fenwick Primary and ECCs children’s amazing talents.
We were treated to songs poems and dances.

Primary 7 used their leadership skills to host the morning. They also had their own Burns Supper in between where we heard the Selkirk Grace, the haggis was piped  in by our talented p7 Piper. We then listened to the Address to the Haggis. Then our laddies toasted the lassies and the lassies gave their reply. Gracie wrote the immortal memory and gave a confident recital of it.
what a talented class we are!

P7 Digital Literacy

P7 HP Training

Primary 6 and P7 have been fortunate enough to receive HP Laptops to use in class from January to June. In p7 we have a device each to use to support our digital skills and to support learning across the curriculum.

Today Mr Wilson from HP came to deliver the 1st of our block of lessons to develop our MS Teams digital skills. We are looking forward to using these skills in class and beyond.

P7 – Teaching P1 to Ceilidh Dance

P.E – Scottish Dancing

We have really enjoyed learning some traditional Scottish Dances. We have learned the Gay Gordons, Flying Scotsman, Canadian Barn Dance, Strip the Willow and Dashing White Sargent.
We have also realised that ceilidh dancing is aerobic exercise!

We decided that we would like to teach our P1 buddies to dance, since they are also learning about Scottish traditions.
We had lots of fun, giggles and tired buddies!

P7 – Scottish Topic

Robert Burns

This term, our focus for learning has been the life of Robert Burns and Scottish languages and traditions.

We have thrown ourselves into this topic and have been preparing to lead our Burns Supper and Scottish Showcase on the 24th January,

We hae been readin ower mony a verse written by Burns an hae learned a guid few words in Scots. At first, they wer hard tae mak sense o’ but noo we hae the hang o’ a fair number!

We are still learning to recite “Tam O’Shanter” by Burns and we are looking forward to performing this at the Burns supper. Some of us are going to try for the poetry competition on the 31st January.

We got our heads together and wrote our own toast the the lassies and the laddies. We had good fun thinking of things to ‘compliment’ each other about.

Gracie was the star writer this week and she will be reading  her  “Immortal Memory” on Friday.
