In celebration of attaining the John Muir Explorer award we learnt about fire safety and lit fires to heat the Ghillie kettles to make hot chocolate and toast marshmallows.

P6/7 John Muir Award
Well done to p6/7 who researched John Muir as part of the John Muir Award and presented to the whole school.
Earth Hour p6/7
Today we switched off the lights for the day as part of World Earth Hour to reduce energy and take climate action.
World of Work Fayre
What an amazing event with lots of guest speakers; parents, businesses, teacher’s and support staff who were able to share their knowledge of their skills, careers, roles, training and experiences. The children asked lots of interesting questions to find out about the world of work and their experiences and knowledge. Many thanks to everyone involved.
P6/7 Science and Technology
We took on the challenge of building and designing a lighthouse that lights up. We built the models using KNex then added an electrical circuit with a bulb for our light. The children had lots of creative and successful ideas.
P6/7 World Book Day
Today we celebrated World Book Day with quizzes, a book scavenger hunt, book swap and a chance to have new unpublished stories read to us by author Rachel McGaw. We loved hearing the scary Scottish tales.
P6/7 Visit from Loudoun DHT
Today Ms Brown visited to talk about what to expect in High School and in Loudoun Academy. We look forward to the next visit where we will be involved in an activity involving food!
P6/7 Moneysense Workshop
As part of our learning in maths about money we took part in a Moneysense RBS workshop. We learnt to budget for a party and calculate our total costs with help from Jim, a volunteer from RBS bank.
Climate Ready Classrooms
Primary 6/7 taking part in Climate Ready Classrooms. Primary 6/7 learned about greenhouse gases and ecosystems.
