Last week we enjoyed another trip to Fenwick Bowing Club. Mr Houston joined us and had lots of competitive games planned. We had lots of fun and and supported and cheered each other during all the games displaying great sportsmanship. At the end of the day, we had 4 clear winners ! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We were fortunate enough to have the support and advice from the members of the bowling club. The club are keen to start a Saturday morning junior session and all pupils are welcome to attend. If this is something you would be interested in, please contact the school office or speak to Mr Houston or Mrs Ross.
After lots of planning with Lynsey, our Active Schools Coordinator, the Primary 6s organised Sports Day for the ECC. It was an afternoon of potted sports.
Primary 5 supported their buddy by taking them around all the potted sports and helping them at each activity. We then presented all our Buddies with a medal and a certificate that we had made.
All the ECC parents commented on our behaiour saying that we were excellent role models and that we were very patient and kind to our Buddies.
We had a great afternoon and went home very tired!
On Friday we enjoyed our last visit to Hallhouse Care Home. We had juice and biscuits and chatted to our buddy about what we had learned and enjoyed about our visits. We wrote Thankful Thursday notes and took them to everyone in Hallhose, including Claire who helped co-ordinate this topic with Mrs Ross.
We have learned so much from all our visits and this has been a positive experience for everyone involved.
Gracie- “I liked learning how to interact with older people. I definitely enjoyed this topic”
Joey – “It was fun and I liked getting to know Margaret”
Elvie – “I will remember how good it was playing games with Irene. I am not used to speaking to older people so it helped me learn what to say”.
On Friday we took our Buddies outside and practised potted sports for Sports Day. The Primary 6s delivered the session and the Primary 5 s supported the ECC pupils and gave them encouragement. We had a great afternoon and we can’t wait for sports day on the 19th May.
This week we sang songs and recited a poem before spending time chatting to our Hallhouse buddies. We asked them all about what they liked doing at school and told them all about what we are learning in class. Everyone always has a smile on their face all afternoon. Next week we are looking forward to having a wee party together to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
We have been enjoying PE with Daryl and Hannah from Kilmarnock Football Club who have been delivering football sessions to us every Tuesday. We have been lucky enough to get outdoors in the sunshine.
Today we had our second come and play session with our buddies. We played outdoors, read stories, painted and had lots of fun getting to know each other.
We used the skills we learned at our Buddy training to help us.
Today we started the first of our visits to Hallhouse Care Home as part of our Intergenerational Topic.
It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed our walk down through Fenwick. When we arrived the residents were all ready and waiting for us to play board games.
Everyone had fun together and we learned so many interesting things about our new buddies. Mrs Ross and Mrs Moore were so proud of every one of our P5/6 team who showed respect, kindness and empathy.
We are looking forward to our return visit next week and Claire from Hallhouse told us that the residents have been excited about getting to know us all.
