P5/6 Fit on a Friday
Fit for Friday
Every Friday morning we wake ourselves up with some exercise in class.
Lots of fun, laughter and movement together.
P5/6 Come and Read with our Buddies
This week we enjoyed choosing a book to read to our Buddies in the ECC. We then found a cosy space to share the book together.
P5/6 Coronation Activities
This week we enjoyed learning about the King’s Coronation. We learned about the historical significance and what happens during a coronation.
We had fun in class creating our own crowns, designing a place mat for our coronation lunch and we had enjoyed playing Royal Games in the garden
P5/6 Hallhouse Coronation Activities
This week we made crowns for our Hallhouse Buddies, read our acrostic poems and took wordsearches and colouring worksheets to complete together.
We enjoyed a “regal walk” in the sunshine wearing our crowns and waving to lots of locals. Everyone looks forward to Thursday afternoon.
P5/6 Visit to Hallhouse Care Home
Week4
This week we sang songs and recited a poem before spending time chatting to our Hallhouse buddies.
We asked them all about what they liked doing at school and told them all about what we are learning in class.
Everyone always has a smile on their face all afternoon. Next week we are looking forward to having a wee party together to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
P5/6 PE with Kilmarnock Coaches
We have been enjoying PE with Daryl and Hannah from Kilmarnock Football Club who have been delivering football sessions to us every Tuesday.
We have been lucky enough to get outdoors in the sunshine.
P5 and P6 Come and Play Session with our Buddies
Today we had our second come and play session with our buddies. We played outdoors, read stories, painted and had lots of fun getting to know each other.
We used the skills we learned at our Buddy training to help us.
P5/6 P6 Survey
P6 Survey
Dear Parents/Carers of P6 children,
I would be very grateful if you could fill in the short survey to let me know what secondary school your child may be attending in a few years time. This in only an indication, that will allow us to send any information that we get in to the school on to you.
Thanks,
Rhona McKillop
P5/6 Dementia Friends
Today we welcomed Sheena from Alzeimer Scotland to deliver Dementia Friendly Training to our P5/6 class.
We learned abot the 5 key things you should know about dementia.
-
Dementia is not a natural part of ageing.
-
Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain.
-
Dementia is not just about losing your memory
-
It’s possible to live well with dementia.
-
There’s more to the person than dementia.
We had fun playing games and taking part in activities that helped us think about what dementia might feel like.
Our next step in our learning about dementia is learning about how to take good care of our brain through Brain Health Scotland https://www.brainhealth.scot/
We were delighted to receive a certificate and badge to say that we are now trained as Dementia Friends. Well Done P5/6!
