P5/6 Secret Student Treat

P5/6 have achieved their Secret Student Class Treat

On Friday 24th  June we will be having some popcorn, juice and a film in class to celebrate this success and class achievement. Everyone can bring a teddy, and a blanket/Oodie, if they would like to. Please bring these items in a bag (don’t wear them as we have Prize Giving in the morning).

Thank you and well done P5/6

Mrs Ross

P5/6 Hokusai Art – The Great Wave

Today we listened to a story called “The Great Wave” by Veronique Massenot.  The story was based on a painting called   The Great Wave off Kanazawa by Katsushika Hokusai

We then  used black pen to create our own  line drawing based on the book and artwork.

In the foreground  we drew  the wave and Mount Fuji in the background.

We then experimentaed with colours by  mixing  paints and then used a  hot and cold colour palette to create our own versions of Hokusai’s  “The Great Wave”.

We are very proud of our finished work, based on our topic “Natural Disasters”

Our class frieze :

P5/6 French: Dans ma trousse

We have been learning the French vocabulary for items we might find in our pencil cases. Today, to extend our learning we have been using the phrases “J’ai” and “Je n’ai pas de” to create sentences to say what we have/don’t have.  In pairs, we wrote 3 sentences each which we read in French to our partner who had to translate them into English.

P5/6 Health Week Day 3 and 4

We have enjoyed our activities despite the rain :

Tennis with Kilmarnock Tennis Club :

Fitness and Nutrition with Sophies Mum -thank you for coming in to support our week and teach us all about a balanced meal. We have been challenged to eat a rainbow of fruit and vegetables !

We really enjoyed organising an orienteering activity for the infants and the ECC. We lead the activity and gave Mrs Ross the morning off!

Neil from Fenwick Striders came to talk to us all about running. We were inspired by his talk about Lachie Stewart a famous Scottish Commonwealth Champion. We then went outside and ran a mile.

Our last event of the week was the Hexagol. We love this and we even helped Darren and Grant tidy the equipment away – we needed muscle power and teamwork!

We have had a great week of activities and we are looking forwar to Sports Day on the 10th June.
