P4/5 followed instructions for making slime out of corn flour and water. They were fascinated by the way it changed from solid to liquid then back again. The pupils’ wrote step by step instructions for others to follow on how to create your own slime.

p4/5 Literacy
As part of procedural writing in literacy the pupils made a jam or banana sandwich. They then followed this up by writing the instructions for it ensuring they had a title, sub heading, time connectives, bossy verbs and numbered steps.
p4/5 Health week
We had a very busy, active week trying out new activities as part of Health Week- karate, gymnastics, games led by the Sports Captains- finishing up with Sports day.
P4/5 Minibeast hunt
We went on a minibeast hunt and looked closely at what we found through the magnifying lenses on our bug tubs and pots. we found wood louse, different types of flies, millipedes, centipedes, spiders, slugs and snails.
p4/5 at ASSIST conference
As part of a homework challenge P4/5 were asked to create a presentation by Vicky McWilliam from the EAC Clean Green Award that could be presented to 32 local authorities at the ASSIST conference in Glasgow. The pupils created some outstanding presentations summarising all that we do in Fenwick Primary to reduce food waste.
Jessica, Ilaria and Lily came along to the conference and confidently delivered their presentation. Fantastic job!!
Dinnae for get your caddy Award p4/5 and p7
Well done to Henry and Harriet who won ‘Dinnae Forget your Caddy’ with the name ‘Ariana Binday.’ Vicky from EAC Clean Green Award and Lorna the Community Waste Officer came in to present the gift voucher to Harriet, Henry and their mum. Well done!
p4/5 STEM award
P4/5 received their STEM award for the construction of the greenhouse made out of recycled plastic bottles. The pupils worked collaboratively using science, technology, engineering and maths to achieve a successful outcome in this project.
p4/5 Gymnastics
We had a great opportunity to be taught gymnastics skills by Miss Hutton from Loudon Academy. We explored the equipment and focused on developing our skills.
Eco Greenhouse and planting P4/5
P4/5 have nearly completed the Eco friendly greenhouse with George the STEM ambassador who has been working with us. The pupils have used their leadership and technological skills. We also planted carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, sweetcorn, cucumber and flowers. Our wildflowers are blooming, attracting lots of bees and we went on a snail search.
