As we finish Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the class were asked to work in pairs to create a set of interview questions they would ask one of the children after leaving Willy Wonka’s factory. The learners then assumed the role of interviewee and interviewer to act out the interview. P3/4 showed their knowledge and understanding of the novel by giving detailed answers. Mrs Conetta was blown away with the questioning and answering…future TV interviewers in the making!
Each pair were responsible for assessing another pairing and provide constructive feedback using the success criteria.
We have been learning to use apostrophes in contractions eg they will becomes they’ll.
Each pupil made folding contraction, where they could hide the 2 words and “contract” (fold) to make the contracted form.
P3/4 have been playing games to consolidate their vocabulary of animals in French. Lots of fun and laughter was had playing “Who am I?”
We were kindly donated the Scottish story, Neeps and Tatties by Scottish charity Nil By Mouth. P3/4 thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story and discussing the important messages given throughout the story about discrimination, acceptance, courage and friendship.
They created their own Neep or Tattie character. Mrs Conetta thinks they are braw!
Today we worked on a different reading strategy – Find it, Prove it, Talk about it. Before we answered the questions, we highlighted the keywords and phrases in the corresponding colour to help us answer the questions in sentences.
We have been learning about metalinguistics and using different reading strategies to help us work out what words mean in our story, A Christmas Tree Adventure. After we discussing and wrote what we thought the word meant, we then used a dictionary to find the definition.
In Literacy today, we were to sequence and write about the main events in the story. Then our shoulder partner had to provide feedback using the success criteria we created at the start of the lesson.
P3/4 were set the challenge of creating a solo talk on a rainforest animal of their choice and they presented them to the class. Lots of pupils used PowerPoint and many had spent lots of times making props to share with the class. What a confident and ambitious bunch!
