Literacy
The children were learning to write descriptive sentences using the book “Zog”. The children worked together to come up with describing words before writing their sentences.
Numeracy
The children were learning how to partition two or three digit numbers. They used base ten materials to help them partition each number.
P2 were practicing their dribbling and team work skills in PE. We had lots of fun playing cuckoo’s nest. The children then practiced some defending as Miss Jackson tried to knock their ball off their cone.
French
The children were matching French feeling words to the pictures on the board. They then played a game of corners with the feeling words.
This morning the Friendly Dragon visited our class asking us to help build his castle. The children used descriptive bubbles to help describe what his castle might look like. The children then wrote about the dragon living in his castle using their describing words.
In the afternoon the children read the story of the Gingerbread man. They were then challenged to make a bridge to help the Gingerbread man cross the river. The children worked together in teams and used their problem solving skills.
For PE P2 have started to learn about football. The children worked in pairs to practice their passing skills. The children used the captains pose to help them stop the ball between every pass. We had great fun!
As it’s maths week the children have been doing different maths activities.
The children made tiling patterns with shapes and then went out on a shape hunt outside and inside the school.
The children were challenged to build the tallest tower only using 10 pieces of paper. The children worked together in groups and use their problem solving skills. They had lots of fun!
Phonics
This morning the children were learning their new sounds. They used magnetic letters to help make their words. The children also used some books from the library to see if they could find any words with the same sounds.
Numeracy
Today P2 were looking at rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and practising their number formation. The children used objects to group and then round to the nearest 10.
Art
Last week our class was visited by the Friendly Dragon asking us to help save Fairyland. Today the children created pictures of what they think the Friendly Dragon looks like.
Today the children were looking at shape. The children were playing guess the shape with their partner by describing the number of sides. Then they matched the shape to the number of sides on the board.
P2 were writing and drawing about their chosen rights for the class charter. The children shared their ideas on what rights were important to them.
