P2/3 – Health Week Day 4

Health Week
Day 4: Football with CP Fitness

Today the Primary 2/3 pupils enjoyed a football session delivered by Callum from CP Fitness. They participated in several skills based practices focusing on dribbling and passing. The pupils did a great job and had lots of fun.

HWB School Improvement Pupil Committe – Worry Box
Some representatives from the HWB School Improvement Pupil Committee then visited our class to deliver and introduce a worry box. This has been delivered to all classes based on feedback from what pupils would like to see in our school.

P2/3 – Science Week

Science Week: Mrs McFarlane (music teacher)

On Friday morning Mrs McFarlane visited our class to teach us all about how science links to music. She had three very helpful Primary 7 pupils helping out and showing off their talents. Mrs McFarlane explained and demonstrated how sound travels which was really interesting and the children were so engaged. They learned that sound can travel through water and their body through a couple of experiments. They also learned that sound waves make vibrations and enjoyed this experiment the most.

P2/3 – Numeracy

Numeracy: Division

In Primary 2/3, we have been learning about division. We have learned the different vocabulary that is linked to division (equal groups, sharing between, dividing, divided by) and the symbol used to show division. The pupils have enjoyed some multi-sensory tasks to help them complete division calculations as well as starting to carry out written division calculations.

P2/3 – World Book Day

Literacy: World Book Day

On Friday the school had a fun filled day with lots of activities focusing on World Book Day. The P2/3 pupils had a great day and there were lots of smiles and enthusiasm all round throughout the activities.

They separated into their houses to rotate round different classrooms completing different tasks led by each teacher. They designed book spines, made book marks, designed face masks and competed in a book themed quiz.

After this they returned to the P2/3 class where they set off on a scavenger hunt around the school to find letters then unscramble them to reveal a book characters name (Mr Chatterbox). They then played ‘guess who’s reading’ where they had to look at photos of the school staff reading and guess what photo belonged to what member of staff.

The pupils also took part in the book swap, playing their part towards Global Goal 12 (responsible consumption), whilst encouraging reading for pleasure.

The jam-packed day was finished off with our open afternoon where we loved having parents into the classroom to show them the types of literacy tasks we complete throughout the week. It was great to see parents joining in with the tasks too.
