This afternoon, P2/3 were learning about the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous Periods and the different parts of a dinosaur.
P2/3 also learned the names for their pets in French. They wrote a sentence detailing the pet they had/would like to have, in French, and drew a picture of it.
P2/3 also enjoyed using the laptops to type out their spelling words this week.
Today in P2/3 we were learning about dinosaur fossils. We made some of our own fossils using salt dough and searched in the sand like we were a paleontologist looking for tricky words to look up the meaning in a dictionary. The children also enjoyed putting in order the events that take place to create a fossil.
Last week P1 and P2/3 predicted what they thought was going to happen when we put gummy bears in water. They were amazed when the gummy bears grew in size!
Last week P2/3 were learning about fractions. The children were learning how to find half of a number and to recognise what fraction of a shape was coloured.
P2/3 have been learning about fractions. This week we were learning about halves and quarters. The children really enjoyed creating pizzas with half and quarter toppings.
Yesterday P2/3 were learning about inheritance. We used Mr Men and Little Miss to understand how things can be passed down from our parents. The children were challenged with drawing a picture of what Mr Small and Little Miss Dotty’s child would look like using our new knowledge of inherited characteristics.
On Friday P1/2/3 had a visitor from the SSPCA and two rabbits; Fudge and Smudge. The children learned what the SSPCA do and how to take care of rabbits.
P2/3 had two visitors from Whitelee Windfarm who came to talk to us about wind energy. They showed us what they have to wear to climb to the top of the wind turbines to fix them. The children loved trying on the harness and looking at pictures from the top of the turbines.
