Yesterday P2/3 had a visitor from LOST (Learning Outdoors Support Team). The children loved finding different bugs and looking at them through a microscope to figure out what they had found. We also learned how to use nets to catch butterflies in the better weather and how to catch bugs from bushes using a sheet.
Yesterday P2/3 were learning about capacity. The children had the chance to investigate if different sized containers could hold the same amount of water.
Yesterday in P2/3 we were learning how to build an electrical circuit. The children had the chance to try and build a working circuit with a battery, a bulb and a switch. We learned the symbols for these and drew our own circuits. The children loved seeing their bulbs light up!
In Primary 2/3, we have been learning about division. We have learned the different vocabulary that is linked to division (equal groups, sharing between, dividing, divided by) and the symbol used to show division. The pupils have enjoyed some multi-sensory tasks to help them complete division calculations as well as starting to carry out written division calculations.
This week in P2/3 we have been working on strategies to add and subtract. The children enjoyed rotating round some different active numeracy activities.
Yesterday in P2/3 the children were answering questions about a book they had been reading in class, focusing on using capital letters and full stops. They also took part in some active spelling activities. This week P2/3 have been trying their best to listen to instructions.
One of our rotations in PE this week was a team building exercise. The children had to get every member of their group from one side of the hall to the other while only standing in the hola hoops. The children loved this and tried really hard to work well in their teams.
In Primary 2/3 this week we have been learning our phonemes and spelling words by practicing on a keyboard, writing our words in macaroni and playing BANG. The children especially love when it is their turn using the keyboards. During the lesson, the children were trying very hard to listen to instructions and follow their taskboard independently.
