HWB: Daily Mile
Today in Primary 2/3 we were talking about being active everyday and how this can help us to stay healthy and improve our focus in class. We then took part in the daily mile outside in the playground.
Wonderful walking P2/3!
Primary 2/3 are coming towards the end of their focus on learning about shape. They have a great knowledge of shape and have built confidence in naming and describing the properties of 2D and 3D shapes. They have taken part in a wide range of active tasks as well as written tasks as part of their learning throughout this topic.
Recently, P2/3 took their learning outdoors, into the playground, to complete a shape hunt. They were to work in small groups to find shapes (2D or 3D) and take photos of them on the ipads. The class then returned inside to discuss what shapes were in their photos and their properties.
Pupils built 3D shape models then described what shapes and properties their model was made up of.
Science: Materials
Last week, Primary 2/3 were learning about Non-Newtonian Fluids. We started by predicting whether or not we thought we would be able to walk on a swimming pool full of custard, what do you think? The children discussed the difference between solids and liquids and then loved getting messy when exploring the cornflour.
Marvellously Messy P2/3!
As part of their Health and Wellbeing focus this term, Primary 2/3 are learning about the wider world of work. They identified a range of ‘jobs’ that they know about and then decided which ones they would like to learn more about. One of the jobs they wanted to learn more about was a police officer so we invited PC McIntyre, who is the campus cop at Loudoun Academy, to discuss his role as a police officer. He spoke to the children about crime prevention as well as considering reasons why people might commit crimes. The children also had the opportunity to see their finger prints. All children were very welcoming and excited when PC McIntyre attended, offering him a lovely welcome into Fenwick Primary School.
PE: Team Building
One of our rotations in PE this week was a team building exercise. The children had to get every member of their group from one side of the hall to the other while only standing in the hola hoops. The children loved this and tried really hard to work well in their teams.
Brilliant Team Work P2/3
HWB: Happy and Sad Role-Play
On Monday, Primary 2/3 were talking about things that make them feel happy and sad. The children worked in groups to discuss and write down times when they felt happy or sad. In their groups they then picked one of these situations and turned this into a sketch.
Fabulous acting P2/3!
Photo shows one of the groups acting out a family going on holiday on an aeroplane (something that makes them happy).
Literacy: Spelling
In Primary 2/3 this week we have been learning our phonemes and spelling words by practicing on a keyboard, writing our words in macaroni and playing BANG. The children especially love when it is their turn using the keyboards. During the lesson, the children were trying very hard to listen to instructions and follow their taskboard independently.
Excellent work Primary 2/3!
HWB: How we enjoy our rights
This week we were learning about some of the Articles in The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The children loved sharing things that they do to enjoy their rights and were then tasked with drawing this in a picture.
Great work Primary 2/3!
HWB: Compliments
Recently in Primary 2/3 we have been learning about giving compliments. The children really enjoyed giving each other a compliment. We moved around the room to a different desk to leave a compliment for someone in the class.
Amazing work Primary 2/3!
