Tomorrow – Friday 1st April. The P1 pupils will be watching an Easter Movie as a treat. They are welcome to bring in an extra snack. NO NUTS!
Today we went into the garden to do an Easter Calculation Hunt.
On Thursday 31st March P1 will be walking to Aitkenhead Farm to feed the lambs. Pupils should wear wellies or old footwear and bring gloves to protect their hands.
We will leave at 10.30 and return for 12.30.
We can’t wait!!!
On Thursday 31st the pupils have been asked to bring in or decorate a boiled egg for a Parent Council Competiton. PLEASE NOTE –
P1 will be unable to take part in this due to a severe egg allergy. We will still take part in the competition using different materials.
Please do not bring an egg into class that day.
We made predictions about how many cups of water it would take to fill different objects. We then measured accurately to check the actual capacity of the objects.
In P1, we linked science with World of Work Week and discussed a variety of jobs that involve science.
Here are some of the jobs that the class discussed:
This afternoon we investigated –
Floating and Sinking
Using light to make words disappear.
And a STEM challenge to build the tallest tower.
We created questions we wanted to answer about bees including what can we do to help bees? Where do bees live?
We used cheesy crisps and paper bags in an experiment to show how bees fly from flower to flower and transfer pollen.
We also made seed bombs full of bee and butterfly friendly seeds. The children followed instructions to mix compost, flour, seeds and water to make the seed bomb mixture. Our seed bombs are currently drying in the classroom and then they will be send home with the children.
The boys and girls wanted to show you who came to visit our classroom.
Meet Sparky the Dragon.
