Welcome

Welcome to Fenwick Primary School and Early Childhood Centre

On Monday 21st August 2023 we welcomed our children and families back to school for another school session. We are delighted to see the many new families who have joined our school community and our roll continues to rise significantly across all stages. As of August 2023 our ECC and school roll has a combined total of 137. The rise in numbers is testament to the fantastic community spirit and supportive nature of everyone connected with our school.

This session, we will be using the new Safer Schools Scotland App for all general communications, updates, reminders and diary dates. Specific information for each of our classes will also be posted regularly on the class blogs, so please check by clicking the tabs on this page or via the school app to see what our pupils have been up to.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss anything related to your child’s education or time in school. We are here to help at all times to support our children to reach their full potential at Fenwick Primary School and ECC.

Our School and Community

Our rural school is located in the historic village of Fenwick and we are very proud of our community. The village is famous for the Fenwick Weavers’ Society believed to be the first co-operative in the world.  The school houses are named after famous people from the village and catchment area:

Fulton – John Fulton astronomer and mathematician who was born in Fenwick who designed the Orrery now on display in Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow.

Howie – John Howie was born near Fenwick in Lochgoin Farmhouse which provided refuge to the Covenanters.

Dunlop – The Dunlop family who were a very important Covenanting family from Fenwick.

Fowlds – Matthew Fowlds was the last hand loom weaver who died after his 100th birthday.

Our catchment area is a wide one geographically, taking in not only the village of Fenwick and Hinterland, but Waterside and Moscow. We also have pupils here on placing requests from neighbouring areas, particularly the area of Kilmarnock nearest to Fenwick.

Our School Values

We endeavour to support all pupils to be the best they can be and our school values are at the heart of  everything we do.  We operate an open door policy and welcome feedback from all of our stakeholders.
