{"id":94,"date":"2022-09-08T13:29:54","date_gmt":"2022-09-08T12:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/eastayrshiresupportteamprofessionallearning\/?page_id=94"},"modified":"2024-10-04T11:15:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-04T10:15:42","slug":"highly-able-learners","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/eastayrshiresupportteamprofessionallearning\/inclusive-practice\/highly-able-learners\/","title":{"rendered":"Highly Able Learners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is generally accepted that highly able learners tend to fit into one of 3 categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018all-rounders\u2019 who perform well across all or most areas of the curriculum<\/li>\n<li>those who display aptitude in a small group of related subjects e.g. science<\/li>\n<li>those whose talents lie in one single area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Scotland we use the term highly able although you may also be familiar with other terms used internationally including gifted &amp; talented.<\/p>\n<p>For some children, their needs can be met through class teacher differentiation. However, others may require supports and adaptations beyond this.
