PSA Coaching

Within EAST we have 2 Pupil Support Assistant Coaches. The duties and responsibilities of which include, to:

  • Develop and deliver training initiatives designed to share knowledge and best practice and to upskill colleagues in Pupil Support Assistant roles in order that they are better able to support the authority pedagogies within literacy, numeracy, health & wellbeing and SEBN.
  • Provide developmental support to PSAs utilising skills within the authority pedagogies through modelling and coaching.
  • Work with PSAs matched to targeted pupils to ensure they are best equipped to assist the pupils to develop their skills.
  • Develop training initiatives designed to upskill existing and newly appointed PSAs undertaking individual and group work with pupils.
  • Provide appropriate levels of support to individual children and young people, incorporating the facilitation of one-to-one and small group activities.
  • Establish and develop good working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders working across the school establishment.
