Return to School – April 2021

Dear Pupils, Parents and Carers,

We hope you have had an enjoyable and restful Easter Holiday and look forward to welcoming all pupils back to school full time at 8:45am tomorrow.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

A reminder of the points issued in our letter prior to the Easter Holidays:

  • Face coverings: All young people and staff will be expected to wear a face covering in class and around the school unless medically exempt from doing so;
  • Asymptomatic Testing – Lateral Flow Testing: All young people and staff are encouraged to self-test twice a week;
  • Hand hygiene and social distancing: We should all wash our hands or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day. Despite the relaxation of the 2m distancing between pupils, we ask that pupils continue to maintain distance between themselves where possible, and always around staff, to whom the distancing still applies.
  • Use of outdoor space: If the weather is dry we will be asking young people to go outside when not in class; additionally, during class times classrooms will continue to be well ventilated;
  • Lunchtime and intervals: Please use our meal pre-order system (link available through the information tab on the School App) and also ensure your child has a break-time snack and breakfast;

TIMETABLE

We will return to our original timetable which operated from August until December.  Fresh copies of pupil timetables will be issued during period 1.

Staff will be available in the Street at the start of the day to help direct pupils but as a reminder – Monday Period 1 classes are as follows:

S1

1B1/1B2 – Social Subjects
1D1/1D2 – PE
1P7 – Technical
1P8 – Technical
1P9 – Music
1H1/1H2 – PE

S2

2B1/2B2 – Technical
2D1/2D2 – Art
2G1/2G2 – Drama
2H1/2H2 – Social Subjects

S3

All S3 pupils are in Maths period 1.

S4

S4 pupils should report to their Column C class for a double period.  Details of your Column C class will be on the timetable issued for the 3 week block before Easter.

S5/6

S5/6 pupils should report to their Column A class for a double period.  Details of your Column A class will be on the timetable issued for the 3 week block before Easter.

SCHOOL TRANSPORT

School Transport will run as normal.

UNIFORM

While it is unrealistic to expect a return to full school uniform at this stage for a variety of reasons, we would encourage young people to wear uniform where and when possible.  As PE is still outdoors and changing facilities will be unavailable, pupils are welcome to wear appropriate and suitable clothing to school on days when they have PE.

We very much look forward to welcoming our young people back to school and thank you for your ongoing support throughout this time.

Yours faithfully

Robert Johnston
Head Teacher
