Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back for the new term at Grange Academy!
As strange as that may sound, learning and teaching has now resumed online for pupils and staff have been working hard to provide eLearning resources for their classes on ShowMyHomework, GLOW and a range of other websites. Learning will take a variety of formats at all stages and has been designed to both introduce new topics and themes while reinforcing and building basic knowledge and skills in preparation for the next stage in learning. We are keen to ensure that learning progresses at all levels and pupils should continue to access materials through their usual class teacher. For all classes, the basic foundations and skills for chosen courses next session will be developed over the coming weeks. Further details will follow in due course regarding our new timetable arrangement for session 2020-21.
As challenging as this current situation is for everyone, it has forced us all to fully embrace new ways of learning and working and I am sure this has not been easy at home. While eLearning can never fully replace direct contact with the teacher and other learners in the classroom, it is an opportunity nevertheless to develop new study and ICT skills. Young people are being challenged to become more independent in their learning and this will be to their benefit when we finally get back in to school – but please remember, you are not alone! Help and advice is available from staff online through ShowMyHomework.
There is a great deal we can all learn from our current situation about learning and teaching and I look forward to hearing your views on this in the near future. Hopefully we can emerge stronger and wiser from our experience.
