Easter Bonnet Plans

Morning all ECC parents,

Week commencing 29th March we will be celebrating and learning all about Easter 🐣

Can you join in the fun? We ask that on this week on Thursday 1st April… the children wear their Easter bonnet to nursery.
The challenge is for the children to get creative at home and make their own Easter bonnet 🐰 🐥🥚🐰 🐣

cannot wait to see all your amazing creations!

IMPORTANT: ECC Registration Fortnight Information

Hello all ECC parents,

Nursery Registration for all 3 and 4 Year olds begins Friday 19th February and can be completed up until Friday 12th March at the latest.
  • Please note ALL children returning next year should register for a place at the ECC.
  • Lainshaw ECC will be 38 weeks (term time) 9-3. This can be split with a childminder or another ELC establishment (blended) . Therefore we will be Model 1 and Model 3 for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
  • I have attached the East Ayrshire Council admissions policy for you all to read which will hopefully answer some questions. Please read the Early Years Admissions policy attached which outlines the hours available and further information before you complete the registration form online.

How to apply:
Applications are now online on the East Ayrshire Council Website:

  • You will be required to attach a copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of address to the online application at the time of registration.
  • Should you require a copy of your child’s birth certificate for registration, this can be obtained at Certificates.scot.
  • It is important that you make application by Friday, March 12, 2021 as the process to allocate places for the forthcoming academic year begins on March 15.
  • You should also identify your second choice of centre and preferred pattern of attendance on the application form as there may be occasions when you cannot access a place in your first choice of centre. Applications which do not indicate a second choice may not be considered.
  • If you wish to apply for a split session place you will need to make application for each centre.
  • Applications received after Friday, March 12, 2021 will be allocated in a second phase before the start of the new term in August 2021.
  • When completing the application, parents and carers should inform the centre head/manager of any issues which may affect their child, for example, toileting, any special dietary requirements or medical issues. This is to enable appropriate planning to take place and will not affect their child’s access to a place
  • Please note you will be required to upload a copy of your child’s birth certificate to complete the application.

There is a link below that allows you to carry out the application online via the East Ayrshire Council website. The link below should take you to the form to fill out (or can be found within the daily record link)

18th Lorraine’s Treasure Basket Activity

Today I set up a wee treasure basket idea, such a simple wee activity but loads of benefits for your wee ones. Treasure baskets help personal, social and emotional development.
Fill your basket or tray with everyday items – metal/ wooden spoons, rolling pins, feathers, sponges, ribbon etc this gives your child an opportunity to explore, experiment and make choices at their own pace.
Benefits: helps to develop your wee ones independence, deepens concentration and develops their problem solving skills while offering sensory and fine/ gross motor skills.
Wee tips to help: the focus is all about your child , they will decide what to do and what they do with it , try and have a clear space in a quiet environment, observe your child playing, thinking what they are going to do , you could add a simple colander – offering lots of open ended play, your wee one might put it on their heads, roll it, spin it, put things in it, children learn to “ think outside the box” and explore in a world of “ what if….”
have lots of fun. Lorraine ♥️

18th Carole’s Balloon Physical Activity

Hello boys and girls, Carole here we had fun in the ecc on Tuesday and we thought you could try some of activities at home too, for this you could use a fly swat, a wooden spoon, a bat or even just your hand or you maybe can think of using something else. Balloons, balls ir even pretend snowballs, we used these and had great fun and everyone can do this activity from the wee ones to mums and dads or grans and gramps. It will help with hand eye co-ordination, communication, both verbal and non verbal but most of all it’s fun.
Enjoy and remember to send some pictures or videos to let the ladies see how you got on
Have fun 🎈xx
