RELATIONSHIPS, SEXUAL HEALTH and PARENTHOOD

In line with East Ayrshire Council guidance and as part of the Health and Wellbeing curriculum, our children will be learning about Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP).

We are committed to the provision of quality teaching in Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood education in accordance with National Guidelines. It forms a key element of personal, social and health education in schools and is an important part of children’s preparations for adult life. The purpose of RSHP is to provide the learners with an understanding of how to maintain positive relationships. In addition, pupils are encouraged to consider how thoughts, feelings, attitudes, values and beliefs can influence decisions about relationships.

Taking into account, the age and stage of the child, it is important to use a common vocabulary to describe our emotions, feelings and body parts. Please see the Early, First and Second Level leaflets below for more information and the suggested vocabulary used.

NSPCC – The Talk PANTS Guide for Parents

We all want to keep our children safe. You’ve probably already talked to them about things like crossing the road safely but have you spoken to them about how to stay safe from sexual abuse? We know it’s a conversation no parent wants to have, but we believe it can feel just as natural, and be just as easy, as the road safety chat. We call it talking PANTS. From P through to S, each letter gives an important message for children as young as four to help them stay safe. Please see below for the parent guide.
