House Captains and Vice Captains supporting the school

Three of our Captains and Vice Captains again demonstrated their ambassadorial skills and qualities and played a role in ensuring parents knew where they were going for the parent consultation meetings.  They also gathered parent feedback using our electronic forms system.

It is a pleasure to lead the Captains and Vice Captains as they rise to all tasks they are given.

We will be meeting on Friday 14th October to plan our forthcoming activities for Term 2, including the Children’s Christmas Fair.  This was introduced last year and was a massive success with children still telling us what a wonderful day it was!

Look out for more posts from the Captains and Vice Captains.

Kindest regards, Mrs Nouillan

Harvest Collection 2022

Harvest Collection 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are the new House Captains and Vice Captains and we are writing to you today as we are working with Mrs Nouillan to collect for our annual Harvest Collection. This year, we have chosen the Salvation Army as the receiving charity.

We, as the House Captains and Vice Captains, think that nobody in our community, or the world, should have to worry about food poverty.  This is why we think that it would be good to donate a little food to help people who really need it more than us.

The Harvest Collection will be from 3rd October to 6th October.  On the 6th October, the Salvation Army will come and join us in our Assembly, they will thank the children and collect the donations.

Thanks to you all, we will be able to help a lot of people.

The following is a list of what we are looking for:

cereal, tinned soup, tinned meat/fish, tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, dried goods, and things that can last.

If every child in the school brought in one small item, that would be 175 items and that would really help make a difference to those in need.

Thank you so much for your kindness and for supporting others at difficult times.

The Dunlop Captains and Vice Captains.

House System: House Captains and Vice Captains 2022

Dunlop House System

House Captains and House Vice Captains

When new pupils arrive at Dunlop Primary, their transition is supported by entry into a caring and supportive environment. Each new pupil becomes a valued member of a small ‘family unit’ and they are allocated a House. Pupils stay within that house until they leave in P7, additionally we place siblings together within a house.

At Dunlop Primary, we have three house: Clerkland, Glazert and Lugton  and these are named after local areas.

House Colours

Each house is represented by a different colour and we encourage pupils to wear their house colours on days throughout the year.

Clerkalnd = Blue

Glazert = Yellow

Lugton = Red

House Captains

At the beginning of the school year, a P7 is elected House Captain and takes on the responsibility for the leadership and organisation of their house for the forthcoming year, they are supported by a P6 Vice Captain.   The House Captains and Vice Captains work tirelessly to ensure their house members are working together to earn House Points.

House Points

Throughout the yearhouse points are awarded to pupils who are spotted living and sharing the Dunlop Values.  House points are also awarded at House Events and Inter House Challenges.  At the end of the year, house points are added together and the house with the most points wins the overall house competition and are rewarded with hte prestige of lifting the House Cup and also with a treat!

Election Fever

At the beginning of the new school year, P7 ad P6 pupils prepare and present an election speech to their peers in their own house, and each house then votes for their captains and vice captains.

House Captains and Vice Captains 2022

I am proud to present this year’s House Captains and Vice Captains below

Throughout the year, I work with the House Captains and Vice Captains to plan and lead a wide range of activities for the children in the school but also to support Citizenship and Community Engagement.

Plans are already underway for another busy year of activities, but already, the race for the much coveted House Cup is underway!

The question is……who will hold the house cup this year?

Kind regards, Mrs Nouillan
