{"id":978,"date":"2020-01-10T10:19:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-10T10:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/dunlopprimaryschool\/?p=978"},"modified":"2020-01-10T10:19:16","modified_gmt":"2020-01-10T10:19:16","slug":"primary-6-term-2-targets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/dunlopprimaryschool\/2020\/01\/10\/primary-6-term-2-targets\/","title":{"rendered":"Primary 6 Term 2 Targets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Numeracy and Maths<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">This term the focus our numeracy focus will be on fractions, decimals and percentages and we will focus on &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">simplify and find equivalent fractions by multiplying and dividing , stating the fraction in its simplest form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">convert simple fractions into decimal fractions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">understanding the of the relationship between tenths and hundreds in common fractions and decimal fractions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">understanding the relationship between hundredths and percentages<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Money<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Describe why a budget is important<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Solve money problems showing an understanding of place value<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Understand hire purchase<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">understand the difference between credit and debit cards<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Angles<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">classify different types of angles, including reflex<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">use protractors to measure angles<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Naming angles using 3 letters<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">understand 3 figure bearings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">The children will also continue to reinforce their learning from term one, completing numeracy challenges within the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>Reading<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">This term their will be a focus on non-fiction looking at online reports on climate change. The children will use their reading strategies to help them fully understand the content as well as being able to identify whether the report is reliable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">We will also have a poetry focus this term, where the children will be given the opportunity to analyse a well known poem and then write a piece of critical analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>Writing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">The focus for writing will be persuasive and discursive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>Listening and Talking<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">The children have all been asked to learn To a Mouse by Robert Burns which they will recite in class on the 27th of January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">As part of our IDL topic on climate change the children will be taught the skills of debating. They will then be given the opportunity to participate in a class debate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>IDL<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Our class topic will be Climate Change. This topic will cover a number of areas including &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Ways in which human activities contribute to climate change<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Impact of climate change on the developing world<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Renewable\/non-renewable energy<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Mrs Fullard will also focus on the Victorians on a Thursday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>Health and Wellbeing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">This term we will be looking at the effects of smoking and alcohol on the human body.
