Mathematics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The children will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>recognise and order numbers forwards and backwards within the range of 20<\/li>\n<li>identify missing numbers, the number before\/after<\/li>\n<li>recall the number sequence backwards 20-0<\/li>\n<li>recall the number sequence forwards 0-30<\/li>\n<li>identify 1st, 2nd, 3rd in real life contexts<\/li>\n<li>double numbers to a total of 10 mentally<\/li>\n<li>use concrete materials and a number line to subtract within 10<\/li>\n<li>use their own strategies to add or subtract mentally to 10.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The children will sort and recognise coins to \u00a32 and select coins to pay the exact amount for items up to 10p.<\/p>\n<p>They will explore and discuss a range of different devices that can be used to measure time and use the language analogue, digital, hour-hand and minute hand.\u00a0 They will read analogue and digital time to o&#8217;clock.<\/p>\n<p>When exploring pattern the children will create some of their own and say what comes next.\u00a0 They will count patterns in multiples of 2, 5 and 10.<\/p>\n<p>We will revisit 2D and 3D shape to identify 2D shapes within 3D shapes and sort according to various criteria.<\/p>\n<p>The children will use knowledge of shape, colour, size and other properties to match and sort information into Carroll\/tree diagrams or pictograms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy and Language\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sounds\/phonemes &#8211; j\u00a0 \u00a0v\u00a0 \u00a0y\u00a0 \u00a0z\u00a0 \u00a0q(u)\u00a0 \u00a0x\u00a0 \u00a0sh\u00a0 \u00a0ch\u00a0 \u00a0wh<\/p>\n<p>Common words &#8211; get\u00a0 \u00a0if\u00a0 \u00a0for\u00a0 \u00a0on\u00a0 \u00a0 be\u00a0 \u00a0but\u00a0 \u00a0 you\u00a0 \u00a0 was\u00a0 \u00a0 went\u00a0 \u00a0 his\u00a0 \u00a0 have\u00a0 \u00a0 just<\/p>\n<p>If you wish you may continue to practise the above at home using strategies from the Active Literacy homework booklet<\/p>\n<p>The children will continue to read Oxford Reading Tree books appropriate to their stage and learn core words.\u00a0 Please try to read the books each night as home.\u00a0 Reading books should be put back into schoolbags as the children read in class and complete comprehension activities.<\/p>\n<p>Listening &amp; Talking assessment this term will be our Scots poem which will be given out this week to practice at home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>P.E. days will continue to be Monday and Thursday.\u00a0 The children will take part in small ball skill activities and games, moving to music and Daily Mile.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue to reinforce Internet Safety through age appropriate stories and stranger danger.<\/p>\n<p>The children will continue to explore positive relationships and behaviour through Circle Time stories and games.<\/p>\n<p>We will taste Scottish foods, reinforce our knowledge of Farm To Fork and learn about nutrition and safe and hygienic practices.<\/p>\n<p>Our <strong>Social Subjects<\/strong> topics this term are Scotland &#8211; The Ceilidh and Pirates\u00a0 and our <strong>Science<\/strong> topic is Materials.\u00a0 Most of our Art and Design, Drama and Music will be related to these topics.\u00a0 We will continue to develop drawing and painting skills and make collage and 3D models.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Religious and Moral Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Easter Story.\u00a0 The children will understand that Easter is a Christian festival and will explore the symbolism of Easter eggs.\u00a0 They will practise Easter songs and make an Easter card.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technologies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The children will practise the following in class and can also do so at home:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>start up\/shut down the computer<\/li>\n<li>use the shift key, space bar, delete button<\/li>\n<li>write their name using the keyboard<\/li>\n<li>leave a space after a word and insert two spaces after a full stop<\/li>\n<li>use the arrow key<\/li>\n<li>print work with help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The children have enjoyed using the class cameras to take photographs and will continue to do so.<\/p>\n<p>When completing Science experiments during our Materials topic the children will develop practical skills as they select and work with materials and will use discovery and imagination to solve problems or construct models.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Numeracy &amp;
